First look at Kenneth Branagh as Boris Johnson in Sky’s new Covid drama

Sky has released a first-look image of the actor playing Prime Minister Boris Johnson in their new Covid related drama.

A photo shared by the broadcaster shows Sir Kenneth Branagh, 60, as the Conservative Party leader.

In the picture, the 60-year-old, who portrays Mr Johnson shows the actor with blond hair as he looks gazing into the distance.

The five-part drama will tell the story of the UK’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

A statement from Sky read: “The five-part drama will chart the events surrounding the UK Prime Minister, the Government, and the country in the face of the first wave of the global pandemic.”

It is based on first-hand testimony of people from Downing Street, the Department of Health, the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), care homes and hospitals, according to the broadcaster.

Award-winning actor Kenneth Branagh will play the Prime Minister and it will be aired in autumn 2022.

The Sky Original drama which will air on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW TV will be produced by Fremantle, Richard Brown’s Passenger and Michael Winterbottom’s Revolution Films.

The drama will trace the impact on Britain from this once in a generation pandemic, and the response of scientists, nurses, and doctors as they worked tirelessly and heroically to contain and overcome the virus.
