First look inside Paesano's new pasta restaurant Sugo

The most hyped restaurant launch of the year is just about ready to throw opens its doors to the public.

Paesano's long-awaited pasta restaurant Sugo is opening this Monday (December 2) - and Glasgow Live were lucky enough to get the first look inside their new venue.

The masterminds behind Glasgow's favourite pizza place have created the new pasta eatery and it promises to be every bit as delicious as Paesano.

Located in the iconic Charles Rennie Mackintosh-designed Herald Building on Mitchell Street, the venue fits an impressive 250 people and is filled with plenty of stylish touches - including a huge neon Sugo sign that we're sure will be popping up on plenty of Instagram pages before long.

The team have also created a huge bar area that fits 40 people, meaning if you're waiting for your table you'll be able to relax with a glass of wine in hand.

With a philosophy of delivering simple, fresh pasta made by hand every day, the team are focused on putting the best flavours and freshest ingredients first.

The menu at Sugo, which has a similar structure to Paesano's, tells customers that the pasta are served using traditional methods from nine regions of Italy - Tuscany, Lazio, Emilia Romagna, Sicily, Puglia, Abbuzzo, Campania, Calabria and Umbria.

One way that Sugo is moving away from Paesano is the selection of wines available. We'll be treated to a wider selections of reds, whites and roses at the new restaurant - but never fear, the Paesano prosecco that we all know and love isn't going anywhere.

Giving us a tour round the shiny new restaurant, we were told: "It will have the same award-winning Paesano atmosphere. This is going to be the biggest restaurant by quite a large amount, it's going to squeeze in about 250 people.

"It will be friendly chatty, you can come here with whoever you want and enjoy a nice glass of wine with some lovely pasta.

"It's going to have nine mains, it's going to have specials that rotate, we're going to focus on provenances, ingredients, it's going to be authentic and you'll get the best quality."

Follow Sugo on Facebook and Instagram for more updates.
