First look inside new Adagio Glasgow Central set to open next month

A new hotel set to open in the city centre next month has given guests a sneak peek of what they can expect when it opens its doors for the first time.

Adagio Glasgow Central, the French firm's second in Scotland after Edinburgh, will open on Dixon Street close to the banks of the Clyde on December 1, with a modern design inspired by Glasgow’s industrial history.

As part of the launch, the aparthotel will collaborate with final-year students from the prestigious BA (Hons) Textile Design course at The Glasgow School of Art, challenging students to create their own version of the pioneering Glaswegian designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s iconic rose, adopted by the city.

Three winning designs will be selected and displayed within the aparthotel for guests to enjoy and add to display of local culture.

Additional touches referencing Glasgow's shipbuilding past, along with expertly crafted fabrics from the Isle of Bute, have been added to give the hotel an authentic but modern feel.

With 162 rooms on offer, the hotel will be pet-friendly offering a gym, laundry room and Adagio’s renowned guest library - which they say is perfect for couples, families and business travellers.
