First look inside Manchester's new luxury canal-side apartments housed in a former textile mill

A brand new set of residential apartments are in the midst of being built in the city centre - and they've already sold out in record time. The 'Spinning Mill’ development has been formed inside one of Manchester's old textile mills and consists of 15 one-bed and 70 two-flats.

Set on the banks of the Rochdale Canal, the Grade II listed building boasts a bold red-brick façade with a towering chimney that has dominated the city's skyline for more than one and a half centuries. Inside, the luxury flats maintain many of the mill's original quirks with each apartment featuring exposed brickwork, beams and high ceilings.

The development was designed by Bolton-based architect George Woodhouse to provide a 'premium residential offering' to the ever-growing number of young professionals moving to the city.

Having appealed to the New Islington neighbourhood and the wider Manchester community, every apartment was sold by developer LH1 London in a record 16 weeks. In a recent report published by The Economist, Manchester was recognised as the No.1 City for Liveability for 2022, further highlighting its increasing popularity for investors and those occupiers relocating from cities such as London.

Rayna Hunter, Managing Director and Head of Global Sales at LH1 London, commented: “LH1 London are delighted to be involved in this prominent, historic development in the heart of Manchester. The truly authentic nature of Spinning Mill is evidenced through its carefully constructed interior design features with its exposed brickwork and original iron columns, adding a contemporary, yet exclusive feel to the development."

First look images inside the apartments show an open-plan living space with a rustic yet chic style interior. The area includes a corner kitchen with a central dining table and a spacious sitting area with views that look out over the city skyline.

The double bedroom has ample space and features the brick-work ceiling that runs throughout the home.

Rayna added: “Spinning Mill is all about the space, both inside and out. Tucked away in the ‘Little Amsterdam’ region of the city, the apartments boast spectacular views over Manchester’s ever-developing skyline. The development offers a premium standard of living for the steady stream of young professionals flocking North to Manchester, as the next best alternative to London.”
