First look inside Edinburgh's new Fopp superstore as it opens in city centre

Edinburgh's Fopp has moved to a new bigger location on Shandwick Place so Edinburgh Live went down to get a first look inside the store.

The shop sadly closed its doors at the iconic Rose Street location on January 31 and has now taken on a bigger shop on the other side of the city centre, promising fans the same huge unique range of film and music.

The new two-storey, 4,200 sq. ft store is the perfect place for die-hard fans of music, film and books, with a wide range of specialist offerings to suit all tastes.

The store is much bigger than it was before but has the same unique atmosphere.

Visitors will be able to browse over 6,000 vinyl albums, 12,000 different CDs, and 12,000 films and TV shows on 4K Ultra HD, Blu Ray and DVD.

World cinema, specialist music and collector’s edition Blu Ray, CDs and vinyl will remain at the heart of Fopp’s offering.

Customers visiting the new store will be able to purchase 7” singles from £1.50 and over 1,000 LPs from £5 each. There will also be an expanded range of turntables and headphones.

The store is also expected to draw further signings and performances from both British artists and grassroots local bands. All team members from the current store on Rose Street, which closed in January will be moved to the new store.

Paul Maslin, Store Manager told Edinburgh Live: "We are really delighted to be here in Fopp on Shandwick Place.

"It's really busy on the street and the unit that we have is perfect for us. It's a bit quirky, the ceiling is really high we have a lot more space than we had before."

The store’s address is 42 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh, EH2 4RT and its opening hours will be Monday to Saturday – 9.30am-6pm and Sunday - 11am to 5pm.
