First look inside Church Road Aldi store after huge refurbishment

Fans of budget supermarket Aldi are in for a treat, as one of its Bristol stores has reopened following a month-long closure.

The Church Road store in Redfield opened its doors again at 8am on June 13, the first time since closing for a major refurbishment on May 12.

With its new-and-improved appearance, everything other than the floor has been replaced, including its lighting, tills and food displays.

Store Manager Patrick Dear says he is “blown away with how the store’s looking” and thinks his customers will be impressed with its modern feel and new layout, intended to make it easier for shoppers to find what they need.

The 27-year-old added: "Produce is now at the front of the store which means customers are greeted with lots of lovely bright colours as soon as they enter.

"All the chillers are now in one aisle rather than being scattered around the edge of the store which will improve the shopping experience massively, while alcohol has moved to the back of the store.”

The store includes an impressive collection of Harry Potter goodies - including a wand for £12.99 and a duvet set. Its middle aisle is also filled with interesting finds, including a Hoverboard for £79.99 and a pool float (just the weather for it!).

The bakery has been expanded and the aisles changed to follow Aldi’s ‘future store format’ which was recently rolled out at the chain’s North Street shop.

The shop’s customers will be relieved with the shop reopening, having had to travel as far as Bedminster and Fishponds for their weekly shop during the past month, while workers either picked up shifts at other branches or took holiday.

The supermarket’s regular opening hours will be 8am-10pm Monday-Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
