First look inside Bristol's huge new rum bar and distillery on Park Street

It's an exciting day for rum drinkers of Bristol, as the city's vast new bar and distillery specialising in the drink has opened its doors.

Bristol & Bath Distillery has taken over the site formerly occupied by Jamie's Italian on Park Street and serves 150 different rums from all over the world.

The venue is also be home to a school where individuals and groups of up to 40 can enjoy rum tasting and cocktail masterclasses, with owners Halewood Wines & Spirits aiming to offer a 'completely unique experience for visitors'.

It spans four floors with table service on the second floor, meaning people can have the finest rums from around the world delivered directly to them without having to leave the comfort of their chair.

The family-owned and award-winning UK craft distiller believes it is stocking at least one rum from every rum-producing country in the world.

Two stills take pride of place in the 7,500sqft venue, one of which is a 500-litre double retort rum still typically used by Caribbean rum distillers.

It will distil Cornish-originated Dead Man’s Fingers Spiced Rum which will then be shipped around the world, putting Bristol well and truly on the map.

The bar is open seven days a week, open until midnight Monday to Saturday and 10.30pm on Sunday, and visitors will also be able to order food throughout the day.

General Manager Chris Hotson said: "We are truly delighted to open this venue in Bristol.

"The city has a rich rum heritage and we’re really looking forward to adding to that story with a brand-new chapter, offering something we believe is different for those drinking and using our fantastic tools of the trade to make their own spiced rums.

"We can’t wait to welcome locals and visitors from across the UK who want to immerse themselves in provenance-led craft rums."

Bristol and Bath Distillery will be located at 87-89 Park Street, Bristol, BS1. To reserve a space, call 07768 425778.
