We may have just got over the ending of Happy Valley, but the BBC has wasted no time in getting the nation excited about its new crime thriller series, Wolf, after releasing a series of new images from the show.
It announced the programme's commissioning in 2021 and that it will be based on the critically acclaimed Jack Caffery novels by Mo Hayder. Produced by Hartswood Films - who are behind the likes of Sherlock and Dracula - the six-part crime drama, which was filmed in Wales, will be airing on BBC One, BBC Wales and iPLayer later in the year.

Wolf stars some pretty big names on television, such as Doctor Who and Marvel star Sacha Dhawan - who will play Honey, a "professional" who is forced to work with Game of Thrones' Iwan Rheon's character Molina on a job. Line of Duty and Hidden actress Sian Reese-Williams plays DI Maia Lincoln and Juliet Stevenson (Out of Her Mind and Bend it like Beckham) plays the neurotic yet intelligent housewife Matilda Anchor-Ferrers, whose husband, Oliver, is played by Welsh actor Owen Teale. DI Jack Caffery is played by Blindspot actor Ukweli Roach. A pretty stellar cast, don't you say?
Written and adapted by Megan Gallagher, Ukweli will play Detective Inspector Jack Caffery, a young man searching for himself and who is obsessed with his neighbour who he believes murdered his 10-year-old brother in the 1990s. Elsewhere in the show, viewers will witness a wealthy family, the Anchor-Ferrers, trapped and terrorised as the victims in a psychopath’s cruel games.
As the two stories collide, the drama becomes a thrilling, nail-biting, and deeply disturbing race against time.
The first look images give a glimpse into just some of this edge-of-your-seat drama to be expected. From distressed characters handcuffed to a radiator and a terrified-looking mother on the lookout, to Ukweli looking down the camera against a moody background, there's a lot to get excited about, it seems.
While no air date has been unveiled, we do know that it'll be on ours screen on BBC later this year.
