First look at Vegan pie shop Magpye in the Grainger Market

A pie company that started its life in the back of a converted horsebox is now planting its roots in Newcastle's iconic Grainger Market.

But this just isn't any normal pie shop, instead, this new vendor is serving up tasty pastries with a twist. Magpye specialises in plant-based pies, and everything on the menu is 100% vegan.

The company began its life on the banks of the River Tyne, selling their handcrafted pies with mash and mushy peas out of a converted horsebox trailer.

Now, they’ve opened up a brand new shop and deli in Newcastle’s Grainger Market, where you can get your hands on vegan alternatives to the steak and ale, chicken and bacon, and even the good old pork pie.

Chris Fryer and his wife Sarah, who are life-long vegans and vegetarians, then shot to fame by becoming the face of a Go Daddy advert campaign after their business skyrocketed during lockdown.

So we took a look around the shop which also has a selection of plant-powered deli meats and cheese - which we can confirm are just as delicious as the real thing.

Take a look at the video above to see the food that Magpye has to offer.
