First look at this year's Southport Flower Show as event marks its 90th anniversary

This year's Southport Flower Show has officially opened its doors with thousands of visitors expected to head to Victoria Park.

Starting today, the Southport Flower Show will run for four days with this years theme 'Garden Party' with designers, exhibitors and visitors all invited to get into the party spirit to help Southport celebrate its landmark year.

To mark this morning's opening Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli was at the park.

Other famous faces expected to attend the flower show across the four days include Coronation Street star Leon Ockenden, gardening experts Christine Walkden and Matthew Wilson and Dave Myers, known to millions as one half of the Hairy Bikers.

Despite the weather forecast, there will still be plenty to do and see including the show gardens and the  Grand Floral Marquee.

The show gardens are consistently among the most popular features of the show and this year designers will be inspired by the Garden Party theme.

There will be a number of show gardens at this year's event (Southport Flower Show)

More than 375 people will enter the amateur growers’ competitions hoping to win one of the coveted prizes on offer.

This year is extra special as it will mark the event's 90th anniversary.

Thursday - Saturday will run from 10am-6pm and Sunday it will close at 5pm.
