Amazon Prime has released an exciting first look at its new upcoming fantasy series, The Wheel of Time.

Golden Globe and Emmy award winner Pike, who will play the show’s lead, has previously starred in films including Gone Girl, Die Another Day and Jack Reacher.

The new Amazon Prime series is based on the bestselling book series The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, which has sold more than 90 million copies worldwide.

Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organisation called the Aes Sedai.

As she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers, she embarks on a dangerous journey across worlds, with five young men and women.

One of them is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.

After its premiere in November, a new episode will be released on Amazon prime every Friday, with the season finale on December 24.
