First look at the ‘Philly Special’ as an actual play in Madden 20

Nick Foles is no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, but his legacy in the city and to the sport will live on for decades because of his play in the Super Bowl two years ago. A few weeks ago, while a guest on Fran Duffy’s ‘Eye in the Sky’ podcast, Anthony White of EA Sports confirmed that the Eagles famous play, the ‘Philly Special’ or ‘Philly Philly’ as it was called in the Super Bowl, would be added to the Madden 20 playbook.

The play, which will go down in history as Nick Foles idea, was a never before run play, that saw Foles have the ball directly snapped to running back Clement. Clement went on to pitch the ball to Burton, who passed the ball to a wide open Foles to score a touchdown. With the score, Foles thereby became the first player in Super Bowl history to both throw and catch a touchdown.

The play helped the Eagles defeat the New England Patriots, 41–33, and will live on in infamy now that it’s an official play in Madden 20.

Eagles fans should have fun with this one and anyone hoping to remember what the original play looks like, peep the video below.
