First look at the 2019 Cardiff Bay Beach that has a giant wheel and splash pool

It's that time of year again.

School's out, the summer holidays are ahead of us and the last touches have been put to this year's Capital FM Cardiff Bay Beach.

So, to celebrate, we've been down to have a peek and see what exactly you can expect.

From Saturday, July 20 to Sunday, September 1 , the sandy beach will return to Roald Dahl Plass.

This summer, it hopes to attract 250,000 visitors with its rides, food and live entertainment.

What time is it open?

It will be open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday (WalesOnline/Rob Browne)

The beach will be open from 10am to 8pm from Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

How much will it cost?

Food and drink will be on sale (WalesOnline/Rob Browne)

Access to the beach is free but you will have to pay for rides.

What is on offer?

Throughout the summer, beach sponsors Capital FM will at the beach offering prizes to those enjoying the weather.

There will also be a giant child-friendly sandy beach, shallow water play area, rides and games, a giant wheel with views across the bay, free live entertainment, food and drink, and deckchairs for visitors to chill out in the summer sun.
