First look at rom-com filmed in Scotland as Falling For Figaro trailer drops

Cinema fans have been treated to a first look at the trailer for upcoming rom-com Falling For Figaro starring Joanna Lumley and filmed in Scotland.

The movie, due for release in 2021, follows Australian actress Danielle Macdonald who leaves her unfulfilling job and long-term boyfriend to chase her lifelong dream of becoming an opera singer in the Scottish Highlands.

Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley plays renowned but terrifying singing teacher and former opera diva Meghan Geoffrey-Bishop who gives intense vocal training lessons.

It's there she meets Max, played by Fleabag's Ben Skinner, who is also a student training for the upcoming Singer Of Renown contest.

It is then the pair go head-to-head in brutal competition - which slowly turns into something more.

The trailer shows the lead character ditching her nine to five and heading to remote Scottish Highlands, where she stays in a pub named the Filthy Pig to embark on her opera dream.

She faces faces rain, Highland cows and her new fearsome singing teacher before getting to know her rival - but their connection becomes deeper.

Falling for Figaro also stars Hugh Skinner (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), Gary Lewis (His Dark Materials), Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) and Rebecca Benson (Flack).

The film is an official Australian and UK co-production written by Lewin and Allen Palmer, and produced by Philip Wade (I Am Mother), Judi Levine (The Sessions) and Arabella Page Croft (Sunshine on Leith).

In association with Wade Brothers Films, the film received principal production funding from Screen Australia and Screen Scotland, and was financed with support from Film Victoria.
