First look at Newcastle Pride festival site as city prepares for LGBT party

Newcastle is set to host its biggest Pride Festival yet this weekend.

Northern Pride 2019 starts tonight on the Town Moor and Exhibition Park with a sold-out Bongos Bingo at the Festival Arena.

Huge crowds are expected to turn out on Saturday and Sunday, when the main festival opens.

We've had a tour of the Northern Pride Festival site, which takes over two Newcastle parks this weekend.

The Town Moor will host Newcastle Pride (Newcastle Chronicle)

The  Newcastle Pride lineup  this year includes headliners Fleur East and Liberty X. Saara Aalto features on the Saturday line-up, while Boulevard's cabaret stars will .

On Saturday, a Pride Parade will make its way through Newcastle, starting it the Civic Centre.

This year’s parade - carrying the title of Stonewall Remembrance March-  will begin with a minute of applause at the start of the route, to show solidarity and thanks to those who have been a part of LGBT+ equality movement over the years.

It's 50 years since the Stonewall Uprising in New York, where LGBT activists demonstrated against police oppression.
