First look at new UK safari lodges where you can watch lions from your bedroom

Incredible new luxury lion lodges let you spend the night surrounded by the king of the jungle.

West Midlands Safari Park has unveiled the amazing new pods which take wildlife enthusiasts as close to its fearsome pride as its possible to safely get.

Surrounded by the luxuries of a high-end hotel room, including a roaring fire and large television, groups of up to six can settle themselves in the lodges for a unique experience.

Large windows out of the cabins offer panoramic views of the lions’ new habitat where the magnificent big cats eat, sleep and play.

The four bachelor brothers on show are Havoc, Hodge, Harabi and Hercules who are a tightly bonded pride but not beyond launching into a ferocious show of strength with the occasional spot of play fighting.

Not only do the lodges let guests get incredibly close to the magnificent animals, staying alongside the lions for a prolonged period of time lets you witness their changing moods throughout the day.

In fact, you could spot them patrolling the ground outside the lodges, coming within a whisker's breadth of visitors.

The accommodation has two bedrooms with king-sized beds, one of which also has twin single bunk beds, perfect for young adults or children.

Thrown in with access to the lodge is a two day ticket to the safari park and a two day ride wristband for use in the theme park section.

Prices start from £790 per night for two guests, with additional adults costing £175 per night, £125 per child aged three to 15-years-old, and £20 for under-3s.

Once you've made the trip to the park Bewdley, Worcestershire, there are plenty of other sights to keep you busy after you've got up close and personal with the lions.

West Midland Safari Park is home to a variety of all-weather attractions, including four miles of drive-through safari, the largest animatronic dinosaur exhibit in the UK and over 20 rides.

Around 140 different species call the park home, including cheetah, elephants, giraffes and rhinos, to name but a few.

Those who are enthusiastic about history will enjoy walking among the lost giants in the Land of the Living Dinosaurs and feeling the chill in the Ice Age exhibit.

Project manager Neil James told Express and Star: "We wanted the lodges to feel like they were part of the landscape and like they've always been there, so the plants and trees we've selected have been paramount to the design and we've tried to pick on an aesthetic which was quite raw and ragged.

"Internally, we've tried to get the external architecture feeling like you're really sort of nestled in your own national park and it's definitely the sort of place I would stay, so I think these one-off experiences are the way forward and what people are looking for.

"We've really tried to encapsulate the spirit of Africa in this and there aren't many places where you can be literally nose to nose with an African Lion with just a piece of glass separating you, plus you sometimes wonder if you are staring at them or they're staring at you."
