First look at new pub and restaurant near Roundhay Park following big makeover

A well-known pub near Roundhay Park has been transformed into a Mediterranean restaurant.

The Stonehouse pub on Wetherby Road in Shadwell has been closed for six weeks to undergo big changes which has seen it become a more food-focussed venue.

New signs have gone up outside the pub following a takeover by Ego Mediterranean, a chain which boats 18 Mediterranean-style pubs and restaurants across the UK.

The new eatery opened on Thursday, July 18, and serves up French, Spanish, Italian, Greek and Moroccan dishes alongside English classics such as a Sunday roasts. There are locally brewed ales on tap too.

Jack Hughman, general manager of Ego at The Wellington, said: "We are incredibly excited for our future in Shadwell. I can’t wait to welcome the local community to come and see our transformation."
