First look at new Mikaku bar and restaurant expansion on Glasgow's Queen Street opening tomorrow

Bosses at Mikaku on Glasgow's Queen Street have revealed a first look of their new expansion.

The new interiors are built to resemble a Tokyo street as a tribute to Japanese culture and serve as a "colourful feast for all the senses".

The restaurant, which delayed opening due to the pandemic, is a hotly anticipated new addition to the city centre restaurant scene.

As well as serving their previous favourites such as Ramen and Izakaya dishes, Mikaku will now have a dedicated cocktail bar upstairs.

Another new addition is a dedicated kids area, designed exclusively for Mikaku. Although this will remain closed currently due to government guidelines, it remains a treat for the eyes.

The newly extended Mikaku will open tomorrow at 4pm, with an announcement about bookings being released before then.

A spokesman from the venue told Glasgow Live: "They say good things come to those who wait so we are delighted to finally share Mikaku with you.

"We took a little extra time to fully realise our vision and have created something beyond even our own wildest imagination that we promise has been worth the anticipation...

"Mikaku is constantly evolving and we have expanded on our unique experience even further, our aim is to transport you to another world.

"The interior has to be seen to be believed, a vivid tribute to Japanese culture and beyond with something to catch your eye in every direction.

"It is a place of wonder and a colourful feast for all the senses carefully crafted for you to discover all the fine details whenever you visit.

"The authentic ramen remains a labour of love complimented by our Izakaya dishes you have all come to know so well and we have exciting twists on these classics in our refined menu.

"The brand new unit is considerably larger featuring a dedicated cocktail bar upstairs on the mezzanine level.

"This boasts a well stocked and incredibly varied gantry of Japanese spirits and wines as well as a range of the freshest ice cold draught.

"So if you aren’t feeling hungry try a sake flight or join our mixologist experts for one of a kind creations you won’t find anywhere else, the choice is yours!

Booking information will be announced on the Mikaku social media pages, @mikakuglasgow on Facebook and Instagram.
