First look at Netflix's After Life season 2 trailer as Ricky Gervais returns as struggling Tony

Netflix's After Life season two trailer has finally landed - and it couldn't have come at a better time.

After all, what better way than to chill out and indulge in a bit of dark humour while stuck in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic?

Ricky Gervais returns as grieving husband Tony, who is still struggling in the aftermath of his wife Lisa's death, in the critically acclaimed series.

During the last season, viewers watched as Tony appeared to initially give up on life as his morbid thoughts consumed him.

However, after meeting various colourful and cheerful characters, as well as truly getting to know some old ones, the season ended on a positive note as he resolved to turn over a new leaf.

This year, Tony tries his best to become a better version of himself - but it looks like he will struggle not reverting to his old self.

The trailer shows Tony attempting to help the people around him - including prostitute Daphne (Roisin Conaty) - find happiness.

He is also seen speaking to Emma (Ashley Jensen), a nurse at his dad's care home who he seemed to have a connection with.

However when Tony tries yoga with his boss "to relax", he ends up walking out when he hears someone slurping.

"F*** that, how is that relaxing?" He demands. "It's disgusting."

Well, he's not wrong there.

But he is not impressed with the yoga session (NETFLIX)

His embarrassed boss jumps up and tells the man holding the session: "I'll see you next Tuesday."

"You're not wrong there, you snot-curdling c***," Tony snarks.

So it looks like the show's still got its cynical, dry, offensive humour instilled in latest season...

We can't wait.

*Afterlife season two is available to stream on Netflix from April 24 2020
