First look at Michael Sheen as he transforms into Chris Tarrant for new ITV drama Quiz

Michael Sheen has transformed himself into Tony Blair, Kenneth Williams and Brian Clough — and his latest role sees him take on quiz show maestro Chris Tarrant.

The Port Talbot actor is to star in Quiz for ITV, which is a dramatisation of the cheating scandal that engulfed Who Wants to be a Millionaire back in 2001 when Charles and Diana Ingram attempted to win the jackpot by planting an accomplice in the audience.

Major Ingram, his wife Diana and Tecwen Whittock , who was sitting in the audience, were accused of cheating their way to £1 million on what was the most popular game show on earth in 2001.

The couple stood trial for conspiring by coughing during the recording to signify the correct answers to the multiple choice questions posed to Ingram by host Tarrant.

The image of Sheen recreates the famous shot of Tarrant arriving to give evidence at the Ingram trial at Southwark Crown Court in March 2003.

The three-part drama is directed by globally renowned director Stephen Frears (A Very English Scandal, Florence Foster Jenkins, Philomena, The Queen) and Spooks and Succession actor Matthew Macfadyen stars as Major Charles Ingram and Fleabag's Sian Clifford as Diana Ingram.

It will air on ITV in the UK in 2020.
