First look at Dragons’ Den’s youngest recruit in action as he opts to ditch the suit

Dragons Den has a new recruit and if 29-year-old Steven Bartlett's dress sense is anything to go, by he's certainly going to shake things up a bit.

In a first look at the new series, the entrepreneur and author opts for an open-necked loose-fit shirt, skinny jeans and leather boots - a far cry from the typical business attire of the other dragons.

Joining returning moguls Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Touker Suleyman and Sara Davies, Steven is the youngest Dragon in the history of the show.

He is the founder and former CEO of social media marketing agency The Social Chain, which he set up from his bedroom in Manchester.

Having dropped out of university, he went on to build The Social Chain and Media Chain, which now have a current market valuation of more than £300 million.

Steven left the business in December last year to focus on other projects including setting up private equity investment company Catena Capital.

The multi-millionaire has also released his debut book, Happy Sexy Millionaire: Unexpected Truths about Fulfilment, Love and Success, this year and also hosts a podcast titled The Diary Of A CEO.

His Sunday Times bestseller promotes his refreshingly posituve attitude towards life which makes him such an attraction for the show.

Ahead of his Dragons’ Den debut, Steven confessed he had been watching the show since he was 12 years old, saying "it was my first window into the real world of business and investing".

The entrepreneur said: "It’s a tremendous honour to join the Den, hopefully representing a new generation of entrepreneurs, inspiring young and specifically under-represented entrepreneurs to follow in my footsteps."

Steven already has an impressive following of 1.2million fans on Instagram.

On Twitter, he has a following of 104k, which will inevitably draw in a younger audience to the show.

Sarah Clay, the BBC’s Commissioning Editor of Entertainment said: “As well as being our youngest ever Dragon, Steven’s unique approach to business will bring a whole new dynamic to the Den.

"He brings a wealth of experience from the social media, technological and brand building worlds. I’m so excited to see him in the next series."

And Steven's wealth is showing no signs of decreasing with the star celebrating a spot on the Forbes list of 30 under 30.

At 26, the businessman achieved a huge feat when his net worth was marked at $96 million, according to Forbes.

Steven takes over from Tej Lalvani, chief executive of vitamin company Vitabiotics, who announced his departure earlier this year.

Filming on series 19 has finished and the show will return in the new year.
