By Talya Honebeek

Netflix has unveiled the first look at their upcoming apocalyptic comedy, Don’t Look Up, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio.

The film follows the two low-level astronomers, played by Lawrence and DiCaprio , who must go on a giant media tour to try and convince the planet of the apocalypse-scale danger posed by an approaching comet.

Meryl Streep and Jonah Hill will also star as part of a huge ensemble cast in the upcoming science-fiction black comedy film, which has been written, produced and directed by Anchorman and The Big Short’s Adam McKay.

But who else is in Don’t Look Up’s all-star cast and when will it be released on Netflix ? Here’s everything you need to know.

When is the Don’t Look Up release date?

Don’t Look Up will be available to stream on Netflix from Friday, December 24 following a limited theatrical release from December 10.

Who is in the Don’t Look Up cast?

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio leads the Don’t Look Up cast as Dr Randall Mindy, an astronomer who finds himself on a media tour in an attempt to warn the world of the impending apocalypse.

The Oscar-winning actor is best known for his roles in Titanic, Inception, The Wolf of Wall Street and The Great Gatsby. He will also star as Theodore Roosevelt in the upcoming film, Roosevelt.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence will star opposite DiCaprio as fellow astronomer Dr Kate Dibiasky, who also goes on tour to warn the world about the comet set to destroy the planet.

The actress famously starred as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games franchise and has also won several accolades for her roles in Silver Linings Playbook, Joy and American Hustle.

Following Don’t Look Up’s December release, Lawrence will star as disgraced silicon valley entrepreneur and Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in Bad Blood.

Cate Blanchett

Also joining the cast of Don’t Look Up is Cate Blanchett, who will play the role of Brie Evantee, a news anchor.

Some of Blanchett’s major films include Blue Jasmine, Carol, Ocean’s 8 and Thor: Ragnarok, and she is reportedly set to star in BBC’s upcoming series Brideshead Revisited.

Meryl Streep will play President Janie Orlean, a character that director Adam McKay describes as “a hybrid of all the ridiculous leaders that we’ve had for the past 10, 20, 30 years.

“She’s very concerned about the poll numbers, very concerned about the politics, loves her own celebrity.”

Often hailed the “best actress of her generation,” Streep has starred in countless films and TV series over the years, including The Devil Wears Prada, Sophie’s Choice, Mamma Mia! and Big Little Lies.
