First look at Disney's tear-jerking new Christmas advert for 2021

Disney has launched it's new Christmas advert for 2021 - and it's an emotional one.

The three-minute video is titled 'The Stepdad' and tells the tale of love from an unconventional family's perspective.

Disney's advert also acts as a heart-warming sequel to its previous advert released in 2020, which racked up incredible 106 million viewers.

This year's looks to be another hit with audiences and follows a grown-up Nicole - the granddaughter from Lola in 2020's Christmas advert - celebrating festive traditions passed down through generations.

Fans can now get a look at the exclusive advert, which premiered yesterday on multiple TV and digital platforms.

The story centres on a special book that belongs to son Max, which came from his birth father.

The family begin to bond over storytelling and create space for imagination and wonder, while building this new relationship with stepdad Mike, their books come to life with Moana.

The book explains how reading can create strong family bonds, as well as highlighting the magic of reading together as stories from Disney and Pixar lift off from the pages igniting the family’s shared imagination and wonder.

The family at the heart of the video will strike a chord with viewers as they watch them navigate their journey and combine existing festive traditions with new ones in the run up to Christmas.

The video is also in support of the Make-A-wish foundation, which is Disney's charity of choice.

The emotive advert features no dialogue, as the story is told through the power of music.

Original track "Love Runs Deeper", was penned by double Grammy award winner Gregory Porter - who also performs the rendition in the advert.

Fans can officially get their hands on the magical song as it is officially available for downloads, and every download before December 31 will see 100% of the proceeds from the retail price be donated to Make-A-Wish International.

Throughout the advert eagle eyed viewers will be able to spot hidden Easter eggs and art work created by children the charity supports.

Dylan, 13, achieved his aspiration to become an animator for the day, as his drawing of a cheetah can be spotted on the family fridge.

Luciano Manzo, President and CEO at Make-A-Wish® International said: " We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Disney and are delighted to be a part of this year’s festive campaign.

"Audiences can also get involved by giving a gift of hope and joy to children with critical illnesses on behalf of loved ones this holiday season.

"They can brighten someone’s day and send a charity e-card that helps Make-A-Wish grant life-changing wishes."

The advert forms part of Disney's 'From our Family To Yours' festive campaign, which will also see animated stories from other retailers including Pandora, Primark and Vodafone.
