Zack Snyder, director of the forthcoming Batman v Superman film which is still without an official title, has unveiled the first look at Ben Affleck's Batman. An image on Snyder's Twitter account shows a stocky, glowering Affleck alongside the new iteration of the Batmobile – a similarly moody and hulking brute.
Snyder had teased the Batmobile in an image on Monday, showing it covered in a tarpaulin. His film, following his Superman movie Man of Steel last year, will feature Henry Cavill returning to the role of Superman as well as Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex Luthor.
Ben Affleck's wife, Jennifer Garner, had previously alluded to the new Batman suit being a "total reinvention", and the changes are already evident: stubbier ears for one, a grubby matte finish, and a bulging physique that makes even Christian Bale's look lean. The film began shooting in October last year, and will reach cinemas in 2015.
