It's all go in Glasgow's south side, is it not?
Among one of the many new places popping up in and along the Bungo is AFTRS, a brand new ice cream and desserts parlour.
Newly opened on the corner of Pollokshaws Road and Minard Road, AFTRS is bringing a mix of handcrafted Italian ice cream and desserts with an American twist.

Founded by Giancarlo Dalsasso, who also is the man behind Great Western Road's Urban West, AFTRS offers a new range of ice cream flavours such as nutella, kinder bueno and black vegan vanilla soft serves in black cones.
Giancarlo told Glasgow Live : "We want to take inspiration from a lot of places in America, so will be serving the classic ice cream sandwiches inside two cookies, and ice cream inside toasted brioche rolls, which keeps the inside cold with the outside toasted, with toppings and sauces.
"We also have different flavoured buns, coffee and affogato, milkshakes and all that stuff. We are taking it slow just now to see what the demand is like for now.
"We had originally looked in the west end, but then I saw this one. There is so much going on in the south side and we just felt that Shawlands was the place to be. It's right next to the park, Langside Halls and things, so it's a busy area and one of the best locations out right now.
"I had had the idea in my head for a few years now, not just opening a place that does homemade ice cream but the desserts that go with them. Desserts became such a big thing in lockdown that we wanted to do something around that. Everything is made on sites, with the ice cream made in the Shawlands store and the bakes made in Urban West in the west end."
The new parlour, which was formerly a bookies, has a gorgeous mural by artist Frank - who at the time of being commissioned had been painting murals in Panang. When asked what to paint, he decided to paint a mural of the general manager of the city centre venue, as if he is peeking in the window, with the neon slogan "what's for afters?"
