First look at incredible £3.5bn Kent theme park’s hotel and shopping zone

New images of one of the the most ambitious theme park projects in Europe have been released.

The London Resort - which will feature rides and attractions from BBC, ITV and Paramount Pictures - is set to be built in Swanscombe, Kent.

Now pictures have been released the huge hotel and shopping zone set to be built as part of the 535-acre theme resort.

The ambitious project includes a long walkway dotted with hotels with more than 3,500 rooms planned.

And a central plaza packed with shops and restaurants for the thousands of guests expected to visit the site.

If the park is granted permission, it will be the first European development of its kind to be built from scratch since the opening of Disneyland Paris in 1992.

An artist’s impressions shows how the park will be split into distinct sections.

The resort is designed to be spread over “seven lands” - the Studios, the Woods, the Kingdom, the Isles, the Jungle, High Street and the Starport.

It will include two theme parks and a water park spread over 535 acres, the equivalent of 136 Wembley Stadiums.

The second park is set to open in 2029.

The Studio is set feature rides based on blockbuster films and  pay homage to classic films.

The Woods is another area designed for children with attractions based on bedtime stories, and fairy tales.

Now it has launched a public consultation and released thousands of documents relating to the expansive site.

PY Gerbeau, chief executive of London Resort Company Holdings, said: “The London Resort represents a unique opportunity to bring a thrilling and exciting global entertainment destination to the UK with a breadth of facilities.

“It will generate multi-billion-pound investment, thousands of jobs, and will transform a largely brownfield site into one of the most exciting entertainment destinations in the world.

“As well as maximising new, immersive and interactive technologies, our aim is also to be one of the most sustainable major theme parks in the world, pursuing an operational net zero emissions goal.

"Sustainability is at the core of our vision and we continue to explore new and innovative ways of integrating sustainable and low-carbon principles into every area of design and operation of the Resort.

“We have listened, analysed and considered all the feedback given to us through extensive consultations.

“It is the first project of its kind to be designated a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project so while it’s incredibly important for local communities to continue contributing, it is also important for the nation to have its say.”
