First look as Kate Middleton tells children to 'confront fears' during CBeebies bedtime story

Kate Middleton tries to help children to confront their fears 'with the help of others' during her CBeebies bedtime story.

In the first clip from the show, which will be broadcast on Sunday, The Duchess of Cambridge reads The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson.

As one of Kate's favourite books it encourages youngsters to believe in themselves.

Mum-of-three Kate reads the excerpt to her own brood, George, eight, Charlotte, six, and Louis, three.

She looks relaxed in her roll neck jumper and jeans in the heartwarming video, which was filmed at Kensington Palace last month.

The video, which coincides with Children's Mental Health Week, sees Kate saying: 'Wow what an encouraging tale.

'We can all feel scared sometimes, just like our little own friend Plop, but as Mrs Barn Owl said, it's better to find out about the things that scare us before we make up our mind'.'And with the help of others we can often face things that worry us. Now it’s time for bed. Night night, and sleep tight.'

US actors Chris Evans, Tom Hardy as well as Dolly Parton and Suranne Jones have al participated in Bedtime Stories before,

Kate's Bedtime Story takes place in a wooden den with a star-filled backdrop and cosy smoking fire pit.

She's not the first royal to read a story to the public as in 1984 Prince Charles appeared on Jackanory to read his tale, The Old Man of Lochnagar.

Kate chose The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark about Plop, a baby barn owl after enjoying the book as a child.
