First lady Melania Trump follows only five Twitter accounts _ and one of them belongs to her husband's predecessor, President Barack Obama.
British writer Matt Haig brought up the issue of the first lady's Twitter account Friday, writing: "It's a lovely bit of husband-trolling that Melania Trump only follows five people and one of them is Barack Obama."
She also follows President Donald Trump's two Twitter accounts _ his personal @realDonaldTrump and official @POTUS handles _ Vice President Pence and his wife, Karen Pence.
It's unclear why and when the first lady started following Obama. Her spokeswoman didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
She hadn't had much interaction with Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, but she met with them after Trump's 2016 election win. She was also photographed with Trump and the Obamas during her husband's inauguration last year.
Trump previously criticized Obama about his golf outings, health care policy and other issues. He was even behind the "birther" conspiracy theory in which he called for Obama to release his birth certificate, claiming he was born in Kenya.
In 2011, Melania Trump went on the "Joy Behar Show" to defend her husband's birther claims.
"It's not only Donald who wants to see it (Obama's birth certificate), it's the American people who voted for him and who didn't vote for him," she said. "They want to see that."
