First iPhone 12 Mini hands on shows that it is very, very small

The first hands-on video for the iPhone 12 mini show that, as its name suggests, it is very small.

A 40-minute video from Romanian YouTuber George Buhnici, spotted by 9to5Mac, shows how much more miniscule the iPhone 12 mini is compared to the standard iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 mini has a 5.4-inch screen, with a slightly smaller notch at the top that was introduced in this generation of smartphones.

Apple has claimed that the phone is the “smallest, thinnest and lightest 5G phone in the world”.

The device itself is smaller than the iPhone 8 and the iPhone SE, despite having a larger screen, because Apple has added the edge-to-edge design of the newer handsets to its latest model.

As such, it has a greater screen-to-body ratio, and pixel density. It has 2340-by-1080-pixel resolution, which equals to 476 pixels-per-inch.

The iPhone 12 mini will start at $699, while the bigger one will cost $799.

As well as the 12 mini, Apple has launched the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro, both of which are available to buy now.

There is also the larger iPhone 12 Pro Max, which will be available to pre-order on the same data as the mini - 6 November - with general availability from 13 November.

Apple has released the new iPad Air alongside its new smartphones, and a new Apple Watch SE.
