First injury report for Chiefs vs. Texans, Week 6

The Kansas City Chiefs are quite banged up heading into Week 6 with five players not participating during Wednesday’s practice. Meanwhile, the Texans are healthy comparatively speaking.

Check out the full injury report for the Chiefs down below:

Player Injury Participation*
Anthony Sherman Shoulder FP
Alex Okafor Hip FP
Patrick Mahomes Ankle FP
LeSean McCoy Ankle FP
Cam Erving Knee FP
Anthony Hitchens Groin LP
Tyreek Hill Shoulder LP
Andrew Wylie Ankle DNP
Sammy Watkins Hamstirng DNP
Chris Jones Groin DNP
Eric Fisher Groin DNP
Dorian O’Daniel Hamstring DNP

* DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related

Patrick Mahomes participated in full as expected following his comments ahead of practice.

The Chiefs have four starters who didn’t participate in practice on Wednesday. It doesn’t look like any of them will be able to go this week including LT Eric Fisher. The good news is that Alex Okafor returned to practice in a full capacity. He didn’t play against the Colts in Week 5.

Tyreek Hill is still a limited participant in practice. Tomorrow will mean a lot more about his status than today will. He’ll need a full practice this week for the team to start him with confidence.

Finally, Anthony Hitchens was a limited participant in practice with a groin injury. The Chiefs should be wary to start him without him being 100%.

Here’s the full injury report for the Texans:

Player Injury Participation*
Greg Mancz Concussion DNP
De’Andre Hopkins NIR LP
Taiwan Jones Hip LP
Kenny Stills Hamstring LP
Carlos Hyde Shoulder/Thigh FP
AJ Moore Knee FP
Tashaun Gipson Wrist/Hip FP
Peter Kalambayi Hand FP

* DNP = Did not participate | LP = Limited participation | FP = Full participation | NIR = Not injury related

The most significant injury for the Texans is reserve offensive lineman Greg Mancz who remains in the NFL concussion protocol. Kenny Stills who plays the slot for the Texans is working back from a hamstring injury. Taiwan Jones who is a third-string RB and special teams player is dealing with a hip injury. Everyone else practiced in full and short of a surprise, they’ll likely be good to go for Week 6.

We’ll have some updates on both teams tomorrow as they practice for the second time this week.
