This is the first footage from the scene of a serious police incident in Gateshead.
Emergency services were called to the Harlow Green area in the early hours of Saturday morning following two separate incidents, one is believed to be a serious assault.
A cordon remains in place around Harlow Green Bank and Kenilworth View and blood-stained clothing and a smashed phone can be seen on the pavement.
There was also an incident on nearby Penrith Gardens which is believed to have been a road traffic collision.
Northumbria Police confirmed that the two are linked but could not confirm the nature at this time.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “I can confirm that we are dealing with an incident and both are linked.
“We got the reports just after 2am.”
Officers remain at the scene standing guard and waiting for the forensics team to arrive.
One resident said her son was woken in the early hours by the police lights.
She said:”He heard nothing but was woken by the blue flashing lights. There were 4 or 5 police cars and an ambulance. It was total chaos. “
The North East Ambulance Service has also been contacted for a statement.
