A road is closed after a serious motorcycle accident early on Sunday.
Emergency services are at Newbiggin Lane in the Newbiggin Hall Estate where a collision investigation team is examining a motorbike which has stopped in the middle of the road.
The extent of the rider's injuries and whether any other parties were involved in the collision are yet to be confirmed by police.
It is believed the collision happened at around 6am and the road has since been closed to all traffic.
Footage from the scene shows a police car blocking the road as the investigation continues on Sunday morning.
Elsewhere, a large police cordon has been put up on nearby Slatyford Lane in Slatyford, Newcastle with a number of police cars and unmarked cars on the scene.
Police tape has gone up near to the Stagecoach bus depot and St James retail park, near to the junction with Silver Lonnen.
Officers have also been knocking on doors speaking to neighbours to try to gather information.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson has said that the two incidents in Newbiggin Hall and Slatyford are related.
