A man has been taken to hospital after suffering head injuries.
A police cordon is in place on Newcastle Quayside, near to the Millenium Bridge.
Footage shows forensic officers at the scene and a number of police cars in the area.
The North East Ambulance Service was called to the scene in the early hours of the morning.
A spokesman said: "We were called to near the Millenium Bridge at 2.48am this morning to a man who was treated for head injuries before we took him to the RVI."
Police officers can be seen carrying out searches in the area.
Northumbria Police has been contacted for comment.
The cordon is also causing traffic disruption on the roads.
