First footage from the scene as forensics carry out investigations in Dunston

A police investigation has been launched after a man was knocked over in Gateshead.

A cordon is in place at Dunston Enterprise Park and multiple emergency service vehicles remain on scene on Wednesday morning.

Forensic teams can also be seen carrying out investigations following the incident.

An air ambulance also attended shortly before 9am.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said the force are working to determine the circumstances of the collision near St Omer's Road.

The victim's condition has not been disclosed by police at this time.

A spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8.15am today (Wednesday) we were called to a report of a road traffic collision at Dunston Enterprise Park, Gateshead, involving a vehicle and a man.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting reference number 179 160920.”

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 8.15am to a person who had been hit by a car at St Omer's Road.

"We dispatched a rapid response paramedic, a double-crewed ambulance and two of our Hazardous Area Response Teams.

"We also requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance."
