Austria's left-leaning candidate has taken an "unbeatable lead" over the far-right candidate Norbert Hofer in the presidential election, the first official results suggest.
Mr Hofer lagged behind the closely watched election re-run, shrinking his hopes of becoming the European Union's first far-right president.
The polls showed Greens-backed Alexander Van der Bellen swept 53.6 per cent of the votes, while Mr Hofer got 46.4 per cent.
The final official result was not expected until Monday.
