A beer festival celebrating women in the brewing industry is coming to Edinburgh for the first time, hosted by the "women's only" club Beers Without Beards.
The Women in Beer festival is running between October 10 and 13 with a series of events and tasting sessions. where all are welcome.
The club was founded to help women explore different brews among fellow female beer lovers. It's not about excluding men but creating a “safe space” for women to experiment and learn about craft beer.
Five bars will be hosting "Tap Takeovers" showcased beer brewed or owned by women - The Stockbridge Tap, Monty’s, Salt Horse, Fierce Bar and the Campervan Brewery Taproom.
Similar Beers Without Beards groups from elsewhere in the UK will be coming to the festival for a meet-up.
There will also be a workshop about sexism and sexual harassment within drinking places, with women and men from the industry discussion solutions to harassment in bars.
Amélie Tassin, founder or Beers Without Beards, said: "We want to amplify the amazing work women in beer are doing and create role models to help redress the gender balance."
Aidy Fenwick, co organiser of the festival, added: "Our Women In Beer Fest will highlight the women who make the beer industry great - from brewery founders and brewers to marketers and bar staff."
