A beer festival with a difference is set to make its premiere in Leeds later this month.
The Vegan-Friendly Beer Festival at The Wardrobe will feature six breweries from across the north of England who have each created their very own vegan beers.
The free event is being run in association with Tryanuary, a national volunteer-led campaign aimed at supporting the beer industry in January, and aims to give beer drinkers something a little different to try out.
Anthology Brew Co and Nomadic Beers will be the two breweries flying the flag for Leeds from 12pm to 8pm on Saturday, January 18 and Sunday, January 19.
They will be joined by Bad Seed Brewery (Malton), Brass Castle Brewery (Malton), Neptune Brewery (Liverpool), and Triple Point Brewing (Sheffield).
"There’s lots of campaigns going on in January and we decided to combine two of them into one fun event – Tryanuary and Veganuary," said organiser Mike Hampshire.
"Many breweries have turned their back on one way of making their beers look clear. This method used a fish-based product to do that, which of course isn’t suitable for vegans.
"We’re also seeing a more widespread use of lactose in beer production, another ingredient not vegan friendly. All six of these breweries don’t use lactose either."
