Patna: Altogether 74 examinees were expelled for using unfair means on the first day of the Intermediate examination being conducted by Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) at 1471 centres in the state, including 84 in Patna district, from Tuesday. Four examinees, including two from Supaul and one each from Jehanabad and Nalanda, were also caught for impersonation.

Science and arts faculty students took the examination in mathematics in the first sitting and Hindi in the second sitting. In the second sitting, students of vocational courses also took the examination in Hindi.

Magistrates along with police force were stationed at all the examination centres. There was one invigilator for every 25 examinees.

Each invigilator furnished an affidavit that all the 25 examinees under him or her were thoroughly frisked and nothing objectionable was found from their possession.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishor made a surprise visit to some examination centres, including JD Women’s College, K B Sahay School, Government Girls’ School, Gardanibagh, Kamla Nehru Girls’ School, Yarpur and SRPS +2 School, Gardanibagh in Patna and inspected the arrangements and also the mode of conduct of the examination.

The BSEB has made four model examination centres in each district where the examinees, invigilators and security personnel are all women.

In Patna district, the four model centres are at Govt Girls’ High School, Bankipur, Govt Girls’ High School, Shastri Nagar, JD Women’s College and Govt Girls’ High School, Gardanibagh. All these model centres were decorated with flowers and balloons and the examinees. A special help desk for the examinees was created at all these centres.

In compliance with the BSEB’s instructions, any official visiting the examination centre was supposed to sign the register meant for them. The chairman also signed the visitors’ book at all the centres he went on Tuesday. He enquired from the students the standard of questions asked and it appeared the examinees were satisfied.

On Wednesday, the science students would take examination in physics (first sitting). The students of arts as well as vocational courses would appear in the English paper (second sitting), sources added.
