First Dates waitress Laura Tott officially becomes paramedic - but will she give up the show?

First Dates waitress Laura Tott has excitedly revealed that she has completed her training to become a fully registered paramedic.

Because, sadly, the Channel 4 show is a bit of an illusion and all the staff actually have real-life day jobs.

Laura, 24, regularly posted updates on her social media accounts as she balances her training alongside her telly role.

But the TV star has officially become a paramedic and is set to complete her first shift on Thursday, April 18, night.

Taking to Twitter, Manchester-based Laura said: "I DID IT! I'm a registered paramedic. Tonight marks my first shift as a paramedic.

"Wanted to do this for as long as I can remember. Never been so excited/nervous."

But don't worry if you're a fan of Laura on the show, she's not going anywhere.

She added: "And yes of course I’ll still be doing First Dates."

Many fans of the dating show have been quick to congratulate and praise Laura, who works on the programme alongside maitre d' Fred Sirieix and fellow waiters Cici Coleman, Sam Conrad and Austin Ventour.

One said: "Well done Laura! You're beautiful face and charming personality as well as your skills will certainly have people on the mend! Good luck."

Another added: "Hope @Channel4, @fredsirieix1& @FirstDates will be upping the wages now they've got a trained paramedic on site every shift dishing out the soup one minute, then knocking out a tracheostomy with a biro the next."

A third commented: "Wow! Congratulations! I had no idea what you were doing away from the cameras! Well done for achieving your dreams."
