First Dates star Fred Sirieix spotted dining at Swansea restaurant

Television personality Fred Sirieix was spotted dining out in Swansea this week. The star, best known for his roles in Channel 4's First Dates and ITV's Gordon, Gino and Fred shows, was enjoying a bite to eat at The King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston, Gower.

He was joined by Thomasina Miers, a cook, writer and presenter who won Masterchef in 2005 and also co-founded the Mexican food chain Wahaca, which has a branch in Cardiff. The restaurant was delighted to welcome the famous friends, posting a photo of the pair together with a few words on social media.

It read: "It was great to welcome Fred Sirieix and Thomasina Miers for lunch today! You may recognise Fred from the tv programme ‘first dates’ and ‘Gordon, Gino & Fred: Road Trip. Thomasina (OBE) is a cook, writer & presenter. She won masterchef in 2005 & also co-founded the Mexican food chain Wahaca." Get Swansea stories straight to your inbox with our newsletter.

The King Arthur Hotel is an award-winning hotel, pub, wedding venue and restaurant located in the heart of the Gower Peninsula. It is one of the most popular destinations across the city. It was recently named as The Times ‘Top cosy pub in the UK’, with its exposed beams, nautical artefacts and open fire adding to its 150 years of character and history.

Sirieix and Miers have been in Wales filming scenes for a new series of Remarkable Places to Eat. He posted pictures on his Twitter page showing some of the sights the pair took in whilst they were in the country to film the final episode for the show.

The visit comes just weeks after it was revealed that Sirieix plans to open a restaurant in a Welsh prison. A charity founded by him, which has partnered up with training provider NOVUS Cambria and DesignLSM to transform prison staff canteens into high-end restaurants, has plans for one to open within HMP Berwyn Prison in Wrexham.
