First Dates' Fred Sirieix celebrates daughter Andrea making Olympic diving final at just 16

Much loved First Dates maître d' Fred Sirieix is celebrating after his daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix made the final of the 10m diving at the Olympics at the age of just 16.

Fred, who also appears on First Dates Hotel, was glued to his TV screen overnight as Andrea first bid for a place in the final and, having secured her spot, represented her country against some of the world's best divers, as live coverage aired on the BBC 's red button.

Fred kept his many Twitter followers abreast of her progress, and then, after she finished in an impressive 7th at her first Olympics, posted a screen shot of the final standings, captioning it "Well Done Andrea," along with a series of applause and love heart emojis.

Catching her breath after a closely fought final, Andrea said: "I’m so proud I reached the final & I’m happy with my performance.

"The last 18 months has been a dream. For me this is the first step & I’m excited for the future.

"Hello to everyone at school & love to everyone back home!”

Fred' fans were quick to pass on their congratulations to both Andrea and him as a very proud dad.

Former footballer Trevor Sinclair told him: "Well done Fred, you must be so proud your daughters competed well in an Olympic final."

Another follower responded: "Amazing achievement, you should be very proud of her, and I suspect you’ve spent a lot of time and money helping her to this wonderful experience, so hats off to you as well," and a third commented: "You must be so very proud Fred. What a credit to you. Incredible achievement."

Andrea was beaten in the 10m platform final by an even younger diver, 14-year-old Quan Hongchan, who scored perfect tens to win gold.
