First Dates host Fred Sirieix shared a tearful video call with daughter Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix after the 10m platform final.
The 16-year-old finished seventh in a very strong field and although she missed out on a medal, Sirieix showed she will be a top contender in years to come.
She was able to speak with her dad on the virtual screens straight after the race, which has become a fixture of the Tokyo Olympics after a national lockdown has left family and friends unable to attend.
The teenager, who amassed a total score of 305.50, could not hold back the tears as she spoke to her family - including legendary French dad Fred - on the poolside video wall.

Fred took to Twitter and posted messages of encouragement for his daughter.
He wrote: “Allez Mon” before the competition began and posted a clip of one of her dives and tweeted: “Well done Andrea” later on.
After the race, Andrea told reporters: “I am so happy. I was speaking to my family because there is an Athlete Moment screen and I started crying. I am very, very proud of where I came.
“I was extremely nervous before the prelims so I thought my nerves would get the better of me and I wouldn’t make it to the semi.
“Then after the semi I got into the final and that was exactly what I wanted to do. I’ve definitely exceeded my expectations.”
Fellow Brit Lois Toulson also featured in the 10m platform final but a poor second dive saw her finish ninth.
The disappointed diver explained: “I feel very tired. It definitely wasn’t the performance that I wanted to finish on but there was definitely some good stuff to take away from it. I’ve been very consistent over the three competitions, which is a good thing.”
The Chinese pair of Hongchan Quan and Yuxi Chen secured a one-two for their nation with a pair of scintillating performances.
Quan, just 14 years of age, registered perfect scores on her fourth and fifth dives to secure the gold medal.

Proud dad Fred told iNews: "Normally because you’re there you feel more a part of it, but watching on TV you feel completely powerless as a parent, it’s very hard.
"Watching my daughter in a competition like the Olympics will be like an outer body experience. I won’t know whether to sit down, stand up or turn around."
Andrea has already had a string of success including being crowned BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2020 and took a silver and bronze medal at last year’s European Aquatics Championships.
