First Dates' Cici Coleman shares tips after unveiling her own weight loss transformation

As the summer holidays draw to a close, you may be squeezing in one last burst of sunshine with a trip abroad to a beach resort. But while there's nothing better than a relaxing break, one of the downsides might be all those extra calories you may be consuming.

Cici Coleman - one of the regular waitresses on the much-loved romance show First Dates - has imparted her wisdom as a fitness coach with a few sneaky suggestions that will keep you feeling fit and healthy throughout your break. This advice comes just days after she showcased her own weight loss transformation in a post that detailed her three-month weight loss progress, the highs and lows, and the reality of it

The actress from Oxfordshire posted five pictures alongside advice on how to lose the weight. Cici, 35, wrote: "Weight loss is not linear. There are so many factors as to why the scales can vary so much week to week." From this, she highlighted things such as hormones, stress, water retention, sleep patterns and dieting - all of which can affect your weight.

Detailing two phases of weight loss, the podcast host and First Dates waitress said: "You have got to trust in the process. Phase 1 — Rapid weight loss. The first stage of weight loss is when you tend to lose the most weight and begin to notice changes in your appearance and how your clothes fit. It usually happens within the first 4–6 weeks.

"Phase 2 — Slow weight loss. Weight loss in the second stage occurs at a much slower rate, but it primarily comes from body fat, generally after 6 weeks and beyond. At times, you may experience a weight loss plateau during which you experience little to no weight loss."

She concluded: "This is why 'crash diets' never last. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, patience and consistency is needed. Patience and consistency are two significant ingredients to keep you on track."

Just days later, she gave her tips on how to stay in shape whilst on holiday. In a post to her Instagram, she shared a picture of herself while on holiday in Croatia alongside a few tricks she uses to stay on track with her fitness whilst abroad. This comes after one person during a Q&A session on her social media platform recently posed the query: "How To Not Gain Weight Whilst On Holiday?"

In answer to this question, the podcast host and actress gave this advice: "My goal is weight loss and I don't want to undo the effort I have been putting in over the last couple of months. I have two options: 1. do nothing whilst away: eat everything in sight and only move my body when I roll from my sunbed to the pool.

"2. Still eat everything I like, but keep my protein intake up; maybe walk over to the pool, rather than roll, do a couple of lengths before I lay on the blow up flamingo; and get in a couple of runs also. I'm all for switching off but I personally feel better when I move my body. Plus I actually don't mind running in the sun.

"Tip: If you have a gym in your hotel, go suss it out on day 1 and decide what machines you are going to use and create a little plan. 20 mins is better than nothing."

She ended her post with a reminder for people who are worried about reversing results they've achieved ahead of the holiday: "If you have been putting the work in over the last 2-3 months, your body won't dramatically change in 1 week."
