First Date viewers left cringing as diners card gets declined - TWICE

It is a worst nightmare for any first date - and it's even worse when it is being filmed for a popular national TV programme.

Fans of Channel 4 dating show First Dates were left both howling and cringing at a blunder in Tuesday night's episode when one diner couldn't pay for his dates meal - after bragging about his 'posh boy' lifestyle.

Calum spoke at length about his wealth and private education and boasted about his parents' jobs.

The 25-year-old flower seller declared that his 'city boy' dad was so successful that he retired at 50 and that his mum was an actress who "smashed it" during her career.

But poor Calum was left red-faced at the end of his date with construction manager Lucy when his card got declined.

You'd think once was enough. But it happened TWICE.

Lucy, who described the mortifying moment as 'sweet', then offered to pay the bill but Calum stood his ground and declared that he just neeed to switch money between his accounts sending First Dates waitress CiCi on her way for a few minutes.

And of course, viewers couldn't help but comment on the awkward moment on social media.

One commented: "Daddy smashed it, mummy smashed it, bank declined it #FirstDates ".

Another said: "Anyone else get second hand embarrassment when his card declined?! # FirstDates."

A third added: "Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool I'm crying mans card got declined and he said he's gonna transfer funds with his date just sitting there #FirstDates."

However, the cringeworthy moment didn't put Lucy off as she agreed to see Calum again.

Love could be on the cards afterall. He might need to stick to cash next time.

Do Manchester United fans REALLY want to win the derby and potentially hand Liverpool the title?
