First Dancing On Ice 2022 contestant announced as Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor

Coronation Street actress Sally Dynevor has been confirmed as the first contestant on Dancing On Ice.

Lorraine Kelly announced the news on the show today as the 58-year-old appeared via video link.

The soap actress said:"Oh my gosh, Lorraine. This morning I was really nervous... now everyone knows I'm doing it, I can't get out of it!"

Explaining why she had decided to do the show, she said: "If I don't do it this year I don't think I'm ever going to do it. I'm completely out of my comfort zone... I've just got to try and enjoy this experience.

"I've had a couple of lessons, I've just started... it's started to kick in, the training."

Lorraine gushed: "I'm on speed dial, voting for you because you've got absolutely the right attitude because you're doing it for you."

"I can't wait to meet [Jane] Torvill and [Christopher] Dean," Sally added. "They make it look so easy!"

And it looks like she's already practicing hard ahead of the competition as she was spotted looking nervous on the ice.

In exclusive pictures obtained by the Sunday Mirror, the Corrie star can be seen tentatively taking to the ice alongside skater Stephen Pickavance.

The pair can be seen using an ice hockey stick - which appears to be a tool to help Sally work on her balance as she skates -with Stephen - who has been a coach on Dancing on Ice for over 10 series - giving the actress directions.

It comes after it was confirmed last night that John Barrowman won't be appearing as a judge on the new series.

The star is instead being lined up for the channels All Star Musicals specials, which he is said to be "thrilled about".

An ITV spokesman told The Mirror: “We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing on Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials.”

A spokesman for John added: "John is thrilled to be returning to work for ITV as host on the new All Star Musicals."
