Byrnes has officially opened the doors to its second chippy in Liverpool and the first customers have stepped inside to see if their fish and chips live up to their reputation.
Byrnes chippy is practically an institution in Liverpool and has been run by the same family throughout four generations.
Huge queues are a regular sight at its Walton takeaway so it's not surprising to see the team opening a second (and bigger) shop on Muirhead Avenue East, on the border of Norris Green and West Derby.
Ahead of today's opening, David Dickson, Patrick Byrne’s maternal grandson, said: "Things went through the roof for us towards the end of 2016 after we signed up to an ECHO promotional campaign.

"We had been busy but it was manageable. After you wrote an article on us, it became unmanageable. The family was growing, too, and so we decided to go for it and expand.
"I’m so pleased. I never thought we’d do this. We had got into a nice groove and thought ‘Why change anything?’"
The business is today run by David and his wife, Barbara (the only Liverpool supporter in the family) together with two of their three sons, Francis, 34, and Mark, 31 (third son, Paddy, 16, has been helping out with the move to the new shop in his Easter holidays) and Mark’s partner, Natalie Richardson.
The team shared the news of its second opening on its Twitter feed last week and it was met with a huge response.
