The book is set in the summer holidays, when Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong are taken on the luxurious Orient Express by Hazel’s dad. After their detective work in the last book, their father has made it clear that they should not detect or put their nose in other peoples’ business. Can they do it with such drama happening the second they arrive on the train?
After getting to know the passengers who were with them, a murder takes place one night and presents the perfect opportunity for some detective work. Can they manage to overcome the red herrings in their way? They also meet an old friend who is on a separate mission to catch a spy. Daisy and Hazel must pry and be quick to find the murderer or murderers…
I loved this book, it was a genuine page turner. I love how it eliminates person by person - it makes it a real nail biter. That is what Robin Stevens has created. This book is partly based on ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ by Agatha Christie (while this drama is going on, Stevens has made Daisy read the book. I found this funny). The short chapters and easy-to-grasp storyline keeps the reader engaged and enthralled. This book has all the right elements to make an excellent murder mystery book and that is why I rate it 4.5 stars out of 5.
