First Buses begin three new Edinburgh routes to make travel easier to local suburbs

First Buses have announced they will be running three new routes through Edinburgh from today (August 31).

The travel operator will now be connecting some of their West Lothian services with the capital to allow for easier travel between both areas.

From Monday, the services 20, 63 and 68 will begin their new routes, with better connections across the Lothians.

The new number 20 will connect Chesser with the Gyle Centre, which will then head onto Ratho.

Following this, the new 63 route will provide Balerno with its second bus service after spending years with the Lothian Buses 44 route the only mode of public transport in and out of the village.

The route will head from Balerno to Riccarton and Edinburgh Park, before heading onto the Gyle Centre and Queensferry.

Finally, the new 68 route will link South Gyle with Turnhouse and Drumbrae, with single tickets priced at £1.70, ten pence cheaper than Lothian Buses.

Speaking about the new services, First Bus said:

"This means even better connections, and options for onward travel.

"We're delighted to offer some exciting extensions on the existing routes which offer new connections and journey opportunities for customers in the areas served."
