First Bus are cancelling their only service that directly connects Monklands to Glasgow city centre.
The company’s number two service will come to an end next month and they have blamed the decision on a decline in passenger demand.
The route begins at Maxim park before going by Airdrie’s Clark Street and town centre.
It then goes through Coatbridge town centre, Whifflet and Kirkwood before going on to Baillieston and subsequently Glasgow’s east end.
However, the route will now begin in Baillieston, meaning Monklands residents wanting to take the bus to Glasgow will now have to take the 201 service to Maxim park before changing vehicle and heading onward to the city.

John Gorman, Head of Operations for First Glasgow said: “I can confirm that service two will be withdrawn between Airdrie and Baillieston as part of our August service change.
“Unfortunately, passenger demand has been in declining for many years since the opening of the Whifflet rail line and other improvements to the heavily subsidised rail network in Monklands, and sadly we have come to a point where we can no longer continue to provide this link.
“The vast majority of passengers still using this service travel locally within Monklands, and these passengers will continue to be served by service 201 and other local services provided by other bus operators.
“New service 202 will provide the peak hour link between Airdrie and Maxim currently provided by service two.
“Full details on the changes will be communicated to customers and stakeholders in advance of the changes.”
