Firms relocate HQ and jobs to North Wales from Cheshire and Shropshire

Two firms are relocating their headquarters’ to North Wales - bringing 66 jobs from over the border.

Richard Burbidge and Atkinson & Kirby have moved HQs to Chirk’s Canal Wood Industrial Estate, joining the companies’ existing onsite manufacturing and distribution facility.

It has seen the transfer of 66 roles from sites in Oswestry, in Shropshire, and Chester, to Wrexham county.

Richard Burbidge is the UK’s leading manufacturer and supplier of stair parts, decking accessories and decorative mouldings, with products stocked nationwide in Homebase, Jewson, Screwfix, Travis Perkins and B&Q, as well as thousands of independent stockists nationwide.

Its sister company, Atkinson & Kirby, is a leader in hardwood flooring.

The Chirk site forms part of the extensive business history of both companies, since it was initially acquired in 1986.

The move will improve both the service and quality of products for both companies by having all 146 staff in one location.

CEO Tony Miles said: “The consolidation of all headquarters to Chirk is a big move and demonstrates just how serious we are about British manufacturing and sustainability.”
